Backgammon is a game of ability and strategy; one of many world's basic parlour board games, played for recreation and playing. Like Mahjong, Backgammon is performed in social teams in coffee homes and bars. Historically, variants of this recreation are believed to have been played in Mesopotamia and Egypt 1000's of years ago, then by the Romans and later in India. It also spread to East Asia, however was largely changed by Xiangqi (Chinese chess). It is now extremely popular within the West.
